The MDHHS July 15, 2026 alert remains the confirmed state-program source: keep global maternity coding through December 31, 2026, and use separate reporting for dates of service on or after January 1, 2027. Proposed policy 2623-Practitioner, issued September 1, 2026, adds claim requirements that were still proposed, with comments due October 1, 2026. It does not change the July 15 billing date.

Scope: Michigan Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan, MI Coordinated Health, Maternity Outpatient Medical Services, and MIChild. Proposed policy 2623-Practitioner is not final. The July 15, 2026 alert remains the confirmed program source.
Transition: No required transition start. Billing date stays 2027-01-01 from the July 15 alert. The September proposed policy does not change that date.
Global billing: Yes through 2026-12-31 under the July 15 alert. The proposed policy says claims with global maternity codes on and after January 1, 2027 are payable only if all dates of service are on or before December 31, 2026. That text is still proposed.
Proposed 2623-Practitioner was the September bulletin this record said to watch. It says providers must append modifier TH and an obstetric ICD-10-CM code for the enhanced rate under MSA 14-32, and that a Z3A weeks-of-gestation code may be reported. The final bulletin after the October 1, 2026 comment period was not located. This does not reopen the MIHP decision.
